2011

Hello and welcome to Room 1a!

We've had a great start to the year in our newly created classroom.

Our auction has started this week; students will be able to earn money over the term and on the last day of the term we will have a mystery auction where they will be able to spend the money they have earnt.
Students will be able to earn money by attending school, completing and handing in homework on time, winning challenges, having a can do attitude, participating in classroom activities and being a supportive class member. As well as being able to earn money students can also be fined! Students may be fined for not doing homework, being late to class, challenge requirements and bad behaviour (which I'm sure will be no body).

We have been doing all sorts of activities in our first week including games and challenges. In maths we are looking at different strategies for problem solving. A particularly challenging activity was lining up from youngest to oldest. This may sound easy, but try doing it only speaking maori. This was a challenge. This activity was a great opportunity for the class to work together as a team. We managed to complete the task, with only a few people receiving fines for speaking English.

Have had a fantastic week, Room 1a are a great bunch and I look forward to the rest of the term.
